Dimmu Borgir: Bloodstock 2014. Ronnie James Dio
Stage, Bloodstock Open Air, Catton park,Derbyshire,
UK. 08.08.12
Description
Again it seems Bloodstock
is an impossible mission to be taped, the taper did a great job under the circumstances
but technical problems from the band, blaming the crew of the festival and more
forced me to rate it low, at the beginning the sound is bad before Progenies of the Great Apocalypse there was a technical problem
that caused a delay, a delay over a very delayed show, you can read taper’s
note at the end of my review, in other songs the keyboards are too dominated
and is almost the only thing you can hear, the band has been passing by many
internal problems in the last years, and this is very clear with their attitude
and quality of performance, less members bigger egos. Due all the technical
problems their set list was reduced, on festivals if you don’t go to stage on
time, your time is reduced.
TAPER’S NOTE: When they finally started playing (over 25 minutes
late) they were good. The roadies appeared to be struggling with the drum
monitors and took an extended time with the soundcheck and there were also
further delays during the set. Shagrath blamed the "incompetent"
Bloodstock stage crew but I don't remember any other bands having problems with
them that weekend. I doubt Dimmu Borgir will be invited back again as I seem to
remember them cutting their headlining set short and leaving the stage very
early a couple of years ago - not very professional behavior in my opinion..
