The Cure: London 15.11.11

Review

"REFLECTIONS" sees an evolving line up of band members past and present playing the first three Cure albums live in their entirety - from the punchy, offbeat, starkly unadorned songs of Three Imaginary Boys (1979), through the increasingly shadowy and quixotic pieces of Seventeen Seconds (1980), to the singular melancholic grandeur of Faith (1981) - in a truly extraordinary concert experience.

Part 1: Robert Smith, Simon Gallup, Jason Cooper

Part 2: Robert Smith, Simon Gallup, Jason Cooper, Roger O’Donnell

Part 3: Robert Smith, Simon Gallup, Jason Cooper, Roger O’Donnell, Laurence Tolhurst

Encore: Robert Smith, Simon Gallup, Jason Cooper, Roger O’Donnell (partial), Laurence Tolhurst (partial)

The sound over this recording is great, really good, the concept of Reflections is very interesting now what about the performance, over the slow songs the performance is great, but mid tempo or faster songs were played slower and without the energy necessary (No guitar effects), very clear in special on Doubt or the faster songs from first album, also nobody knows what happened with Porl and why he refused to be part of this and got out of the band, but Robert brought back Roger to the band as guest first and as permanent member, even having Tolhurst the same night on same instrument, at the end Lol was just a guest for these shows, and Roger is now again (Sadly) a permanent member of the band.

World war fades out at the very end.
